I was responsible for the creation of one to two captivating and creative posts on a weekly basis to be shared across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. I collaborated with a team of six fellow interns to provide input on various ideas and complete larger projects focused on themes such as Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Pride Month. Throughout my time as an intern, I was instrumental in the development of innovative content campaigns using emerging social media marketing tools, specifically Instagram Reels. My Reels series, “On This Day in FSU History,” proved to be so successful in attracting new followers and engaging current followers that it is still being produced today. Being an outsider to the History Department myself, I worked to develop strategies to target a broad audience outside of the Department to increase our reach on these various social media platforms. As a result of these efforts, followers on Instagram grew by more than 70% during my tenure. I gained valuable experience using industry tools such as Canva and worked to perfect my written and verbal communication skills through various interviews I conducted and articles I produced for the Department’s website.
